LTJG William (Bill) Enterkin - Commanding Officer - William ("Bill") Enterkin is a native of Oak Park, MI. Upon graduation from high school in May 1987, he enlisted into the United States Navy as a machinist mate. He is a veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. During his career in the United States Navy, he has been assigned to and served on some of the finest ships and bases in the United States Navy including the USS San Jose (AFS-7) out of Guam USA, USS Samuel Gompers (AD-37), USS Carl Vinson (CN-70), the Naval Reserve Center in Nashville, and the USS Nashville (LPD-13).
In 1999, Bill assisted MM1 Dennis Roberts in organizing the USNSCC Nashville LPD-13 Division and is currently serving in the volunteer position of Commanding Officer, LTJG, of the Naval Sea Cadet Corp - Nashville LPD-13 Division where he is passing on his experience and knowledge to our youth. In addition, he is a member of the American Legion Post 82 - Nashville, the Fleet Reserve Association Post 110 - Nashville, and a member of the ROTC boosters in Clarksville, TN.
Petty Officer (PO) William Enterkin retired from the United States Navy in 2007 after 20 years of faithful service. Upon his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Petty Officer Enterkin returned to Clarksville, TN to his wife, Leretta and their 3 children. When Bill is not at work or volunteering his time with the Sea Cadets or with the various other organizations he is involved in, you will find him spending time with his family and participating in his children's many school and church activities.
ENS Robert (Bob) Ware - Executive Officer - Bob was introduced to the Sea Cadets by Deana Allman who serves as Medical Officer for the division. With a feeling of "I am not giving enough of myself", Bob hoped that his life experiences might
be of benefit to the cadets. With his father having been a decorated pilot in the Army Air Corp, he had hoped to follow in his footsteps as a Naval Aviator. As it would be in 1966, Bob applied for Navy Aviation but was rejected for not having "uncorrected" eyesight.
So some 40 years later he is in the Sea Cadet Nashville LPD-13 Division as an Ensign and division Executive Officer. Here he
can share his passion for aviation, civilian pilot knowledge and many real life experiences with the cadets. Another of his passions is sailing, both cruising and racing. Bob teaches sailing at the "Learning at the Helm" program which is an affiliate program through the Percy Priest Yacht Club (PPYC).
His wife of 18 years and fellow Nashville LPD-13 volunteer, Ensign Kathy Ware, and he have 3 grown children and 2 granddaughters between
them. Bob has been in his church choir, past secretary/treasurer for the Men of the Church, past church assistant treasurer, Elder, and past Secretary (2005), Member-at-Large (2006 & 2007) and Sailing Director (2008) for PPYC.
LTJG Freddie (Buddie) Toon - Operations Officer - While Buddie was in High School, he developed an interest in the
Navy. After graduation, he joined the Navy and attended boot camp in Orlando, Florida. His first duty station was "A" school
in Pensacola, Florida to become a Cryptologic Technician. While spending time overseas and in different stations in the Unites States, he learned how to enjoy different situations. Upon completing his time on active duty, he became a Police Officer and has enjoyed that profession for over 20 years.
Buddie first became interested in the Sea Cadet program when his son, who was extremely interested in the Navy during his teenage years, learned of the program. He quickly became "hooked" on the program and the opportunities the program offers young people. It has been exciting for him to witness young people come into the program and take on such responsibility and become an integral part of the Nashville Division. Buddie considers himself fortunate to have found the Sea Cadet program and especially the Nashville Division.
ENS Deanna Allman - Medical Officer - Deanna was a Navy Corpsman at Bethesda Naval Hospital in 1993, before receiving a Medical Discharge and returned to Missouri to work on her Pre-Med Degree and to work as an EMT. I moved to Tennessee in 1999 to attend MTSU. In 2002, she received her B.S. in Community and Public Health Education. After graduation, she worked with the Navy JROTC unit in Columbia, Tennessee as a Medic/Escort Officer in 2003 and taught CPR for them as well.
Deanna began her working with the USNSCC by volunteering with the BB-43 Division in Millington, because she wanted to become more familiar with the program and enjoyed being around Active Duty Military. She transferred to the Nashville LPD-13 Division in 2005 as the Medical Officer. She is currently a licensed EMT and works for Baptist Hospital in Nashville.
Outside of Sea Cadets and work, Deanna is very involved in the Sailing Community, assisting with varies Youth Sail Training activities throughout her summers.
ENS Laurie Toft - Administrative Officer/Web Master - Laurie has been with the division since March of 2007 under the encouragement of LTJG Buddie Toon when her oldest daughter joined the division. She currently serves as the Administrative Officer for the division as well as the secretary for the LPD-13 Corporation and division webmaster. She grew up in a family of Navy and Army veterans and has a deep respect for those who serve in the armed forces.
Laurie graduated from the University of Iowa in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Language and in Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies. As a result, She has had the privilege to spend time studying and working in various parts of Russia and Eastern Europe. In addition to her professional endeavors, her experience in working with youth has included teaching an
after-school Russian Language class, serving as a tutor to East European foreign exchange students and working as a Volunteer Coordinator for
the Youth For Understanding International Exchange program.
When at work not volunteering with the Sea Cadets, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
ENS Kathy Ware - Public Affairs Officer/Recruiting Officer - Kathy joined the Nashville LPD-13 Division of USNSCC in February of 2007, and can thank Ens. Deanna Allman for this gift. She felt called by God to do something for youth, so she resigned my next 3-year term as Elder of Worship at her church to allow her time to become more fully involved with the
Cadets. She knows it is practically impossible to change the world alone, but you can change it one by one. We have a special family friend who was headed in the wrong direction at school with failing grades and confused relationships. We saw Cadets
as an answered prayer to change his direction, and he has. He has now met and surpassed the required school-grade
average and is an emerging leader - how rewarding for us! Kathy proudly passed her Ensign exam a few months ago and is
now a unit officer.
Outside of the Cadets, Kathy's love of sailing commits her from April through October as Coordinator of Tuesday night "Learning at the Helm", an affiliate program of Percy Priest Yacht Club that teaches sailing at Nashville 's Hamilton Creek Marina. She works a full-time job, is a member of her church choir and works her "Southern Living at Home" home business. She and Ens. Bob Ware have been married for 18 years and have 3 grown children between them and two granddaughters.
LTJG David Mills - NLCC Training Officer - David joined the US Navy in August of 1971 at the age of 18. He has attended Advanced Undersea Weapons School and completed Topedomens Mate Class and submarine school before transferring to the surface fleet due for medical reasons. He served in the Mediterranean Sea as 3rd class petty officer as a Surface Torpedoman until his father suffered several heart attacks causing him to request to be released to reserve status due to hardship and was honorably discharged in 1977. Then in 1987, he joined the US Naval Reserves at Nashville and was placed in the readiness unit where he held the jobs of Assistant Leading Petty Officer to Leading Petty Officer to Active Duty Training Coordinator. He also completed law enforcement operations and patrolled the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf area. After the 9/11 attacks on World Trade Center and Pentagon, he volunteered for active duty and was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he served between 2002-2003
as a security officer at the air terminal and as base police. Upon returning to the states, he began volunteering as a teacher with the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps program. As of November 2007, David retired from the US Navy and had completed 4 years with the USNSCC and achieved the rank
of LTJG. David is currently the instructor over Navy League Cadets and indoctrination for all new League and Sea Cadets arriving on board the USS Nashville LPD-13 Division at present. This summer David and will be leaving for U.S Navy boot camp as a kyptological tech.
David held the office of County Commissioner for Lewis County for 4 years, twice served as Commander for the American Legion Post 127, and is presently a member in good standing of the 40 and 8, an invitation only organization of past officers of the American Legion. In addition, David has served for 14 years with the Lewis County Sherrif's Department as Reserve Deputy and has an active Bail Enforcement Agent for same period of time.
On a personal note, David and his wife of 16 years, Janice, have 4 grown children and 2 living two grandchildren and one deceased grandchild. He enjoys riding his Harley Davidison when possible and teaching the Sea Cadet program very much. He loves his family and his Navy family and the time he gets to share with all and it shows!
ENS Tommy Stout - Physical Training Officer - Tommy has been with the division since November 2007 when his youngest son joined. He serves as Physical Training Officer for the division.
